While on routine patrol in the area of Newark Ave and S. 23rd Street, Ptl. Torre observed what appeared to be a hand-to-hand narcotics transaction.  He conducted a pedestrian stop and found a Kenilworth juvenile and Elizabeth juvenile in possession of a quantity of Xanax pills, Clonzepam pills, marijuana, and THC/marijuana vape cartridges. Both were arrested at the scene.  The Elizabeth juvenile was charged with CDS Distribution, Possession of CDS, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Kenilworth juvenile was charged with Possession of CDS.  They await a court date in Union County Juvenile court.

Patrol units were dispatched to the 400 block of Coolidge Drive on a report of a stolen motor vehicle.  After speaking with the resident and neighbors and viewing nearby home surveillance systems, officers determined the vehicle was taken shortly after midnight from the resident’s driveway.  It was found a short time later in the City of Newark relatively undamaged and was returned to its owner. 

 

5/24/20 at 10:45am

Patrol units were dispatched to Commonwealth Road on the report of an attempted burglary to a motor vehicle.  Upon arrival, Ptl. Dilts reported that the homeowner witnessed a White Porsche pull up in front of his house where the passenger got out and ran up to his driveway and attempted to gain entry to the resident’s vehicle.  The resident ran out of the house and scared away the suspect who fled to the Boulevard and was last seen entering the Garden State Parkway Northbound.

Ptl. Fuschino conducted a motor vehicle stop in the ACME parking lot after witnessing a motor vehicle violation.  A passenger of the vehicle, a Kenilworth juvenile, was arrested for having in his possession a quantity of marijuana and liquid THC/Marijuana vape cartridges.  He was arrested and later turned over to a parent with complaints pending in Union County juvenile court. 

 

6/4/20 at 8:00am

Patrol units were dispatched to the 500 block of Quinton Ave on the report of a stolen motor vehicle.  Upon arrival, Ptl. Torre spoke with the victim who reported his company car was stolen from his driveway sometime overnight.  Detectives determined the vehicle to be taken sometime around 3:00am.  The vehicle was recovered a few days later in the City of Newark and returned to the company with significant damage. 

 

6/24/20 at 8:00am

While investigating the stolen car from Quinton Ave, Ptl. Torre was flagged down by a nearby resident who reported his vehicle was burglarized overnight.  Taken were two cell phones valued at over $1,000.

 

6/14/20 at 7:25pm

Patrol was dispatched to the ACME supermarket on the report of shoplifting.  Upon arrival, Ptl. Torre found Alfred Lovett, 49, of Brooklyn in possession of stolen goods. Lovett was placed under arrest and charged with Shoplifting and Defiant Trespassing.  He was later released with a pending municipal court date. 

 

6/14/20 at 9:00am

Patrol units were dispatched to Tulip Ct on the report of a stolen motor vehicle.  Upon arrival, Ptl Filipe reported that the resident’s vehicle was stolen sometime around 1:00 am.  That vehicle has not been located at the time of this release.
