KENILWORTH, NJ – The Borough of Kenilworth is preparing for this year’s street fair and annual car show.

The street fair takes place this Sunday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be vendors, games, rides and food, including gourmet food trucks.

“We’re really looking forward to it,” Borough clerk Laura Reinertsen said. “We’re quite excited.”

Last year’s street fair and car show brought in about 8,000 people, Reinertsen said.

People who wish to enter their cars can enter them on the Boulevard from the 14th Street side. The cars must be registered by 1 p.m. in order to be judged for categories including “Best in Show,” “Mayor’s Choice,” “Resident’s Choice” and more.

“We hope people come and visit the town and see what we have to offer,” Reinertsen said. “And then they come back and visit Kenilworth.”

This is the second year the street fair will be held in the spring, Reinertsen said. The Borough previously held the event in the fall.

“We were used to doing it in the fall, but it makes more sense in the spring so the light is out longer,” Reinertsen said. “We want to kick the season off right.”
