Memorial for Kenilworth's Daniel Triano Marks Site of Scotch Plains Car Crash


SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Grieving friends have created a roadside memorial for Daniel Triano, the Academy for Information Technology (AIT) student who died from injuries suffered in a car crash on Cooper Road in Scotch Plains on Wednesday.

The memorial includes pucks with handwritten tributes arranged into the number 8, along with flowers and photographs of Triano, who was a NJ Devils Youth Hockey Player for 12 years and a star defenseman for the Jonathan Dayton High School hockey team. The Kenilworth resident also was a youth hockey referee.

Triano was a member of The Future Business Leaders of America at AIT, one of the highly competitive Union County Vocational Technical Schools. He also was a member of the Kenilworth Gospel Chapel.

Donations in Daniel Tirano’s memory may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of NJ, 1AAA Drive #203, Trenton, NJ 08691-1811 or for Daniel’s Scholarship Fund, c/o the  Academy for Information Technology PSSO, Raritan Road, Scotch Plains, NJ, 07076.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park, on Monday, June 20, 2016. A service will be offered in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Please be at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Union.
