Rumors of Poisoned Animals Spread After Two Dead Deer Were Found in Kenilworth

Two deer found in Kenilworth Credits:

KENILWORTH, NJ- Rumors of poisoned animals are spreading after a Facebook post showed a photo of two dead deer on a Kenilworth street. The resident who posted the photo also claims there was a dead cat in the same area.

According to comments on the Facebook page, the animals were found on Michigan Avenue. The deer show no major signs of trauma.

“There is no belief that it’s poisoning or animal cruelty,” Detective Ed Paster of the Kenilworth Police Department said.

Paster claims the department has received multiple calls about the animals today. Approximately 100 people have commented on the Facebook photo and asked for an investigation.

“We notified the county police, who did an animal investigation,” Paster said. “They believe the deaths were from falls from the parkway overpass, which is right above where they were found.”

One user claims she has found multiple dead kittens in her yard. Another claimed that neighbors purposefully put out poisoned food to drive animals away from their homes.

TAPinto Kenilworth reached out to the Kenilworth Board of Health for comment, but have not received an answer at this time.
