Union County Recycling Events in June

UNION COUNTY---The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders has announced several free recycling events upcoming in June. 

Union County will host three Mobile Paper Shredding Events: 

  • Saturday, June 3, at Union County College (1033 Springfield Avenue in Cranford).
  • Wednesday, June 7 at Clark Public Works (315 Westfield Avenue in Clark).
  • Saturday, June 17 at the Union County Vocational Technical School (VoTech, 1776 Raritan Road in Scotch Plains).

All events will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or until the truck(s) get filled. Residents can bring up to four bags of confidential documents for shredding.

Household Hazardous Waste Program 

  • Saturday, June 10, at Union County College (1033 Springfield Avenue in Cranford). 

The event will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Items for drop off include: pesticides & herbicides, pool chemicals, gasoline, oil-based paints, deck stain, fluorescent bulbs, and propane tanks.

Scrap Metal Recycling Program

  • Thursday, June 1
  • Saturday, June 17

There are two (2) locations in Union County for residents to drop off their metal for recycling, one in Cranford and Rahway. All locations will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Residents can drop off old appliances, microwaves, air conditioners, and metal lawn furniture to name a few. Visit www.ucnj.org/recycling for more information or directions.
