KENILWORTH, NJ - Public safety officials Finance Chairman Daniel Lopez who is a firefighter, and Louis DeMondo the Planning, Zoning, and Ordinance Chairman who is a police detective, recently released a statement acknowledging the new telecom system.
As public safety employees, the decision of the Borough to enter into a new emergency telecommunication service with the County of Union is very positive.
The essence of the service to permit Kenilworth for a small cost to join the “interoperable communication system” regarding notice throughout the County in fire safety emergencies.
We have seen examples in other communities where a fire safety emergency requires the joint cooperation of neighboring communities.
The plan is to always hope for best but plan for the worst. The participation in this new system is the best way to ensure fire safety in Kenilworth.
This system gives access to communication with surrounding towns. This agreement will allow to have communication for assistance and mutual aid when needed. The police and fire dispatch will remain here in the borough.
