KENILWORTH, NJ – Karate World opened its doors in June of 1991 and ever since has been serving the community for 30 years. The studio has produced 50 junior Olympic gold medal lists, numerous North American sport karate world champions, and world-class instructors. With the knowledge and model of Karate World to guide them, many of Karate World’s instructors have gone on to open their own studios.
Owner Grandmaster Jeff Dunn is an 8th-degree black belt and has teaching martial arts for 36 years and has been studying for 46 years. Changing lives in Union County for three decades Dunn emphasizes that he really enjoys teaching classes at his dojo every day. “At Karate World Kenilworth we protect children and set them up for success in life” Dunn said. “We teach our students that martial arts supply respect. That our students respect their teachers, parents and the country. Without it, it’s just punching, kicking and yelling. Our children are required to keep their rooms and body clean, do well in school, and be considerate to their parents and others around.”
There are also family classes offered where children participate with their parents. “It’s a great bonding experience. The children learn by example from their parents no quitting spirit. They also learn how to set goals, overcome obstacles, and how to be their best at every age and stage of life.”
Karate World throughout the pandemic has refurbished its school and Dunn says “it’s better than ever!” June 14 is the official date Karate World first opened in 1991 and the studio plans on having a grand re-opening this upcoming September.
