KENILWORTH, NJ – Jenna Margaritondo and Brendan Fitzsimmons have been named this week’s David Brearley High School Athletes of the Week.
Jenna Margaritondo is a junior choice student at David Brearley High School. She is a member of the competitive cheer team at Brearley and has lettered in varsity softball. She has been a competitive cheer leader for twelve years and says “I am fortunate enough to have the most amazing coaches now and throughout my cheer career. Her best memory at Brearley was just three weeks ago when she states “Our very hardworking team hit our routine (which means no mistakes) at a competition in Jackson, NJ. It was such a great feeling. I am so honored to be a part of this team.” Margaritondo is also a volunteer cheer coach for preschoolers at Central Jersey All Stars in Kenilworth. When she is not cheering, Margaritondo enjoys spending time with friends, softball, and playing with her dog Robby.
Brendan Fitzsimmons born and raised in Kenilworth, is a fifteen-year-old freshman at Brearley and he loves sports. “I have been playing them my whole life, including football, baseball, basketball, wrestling, and now track.” Fitzsimmons started playing sports at the young age of four with his twin brother. “We both love the sports we play, and will never stop playing them.” Fitzsimmons is on the track team. His favorite sports memory was recently February 17, when he ran his personal record at the ocean breeze athletic complex in Staten Island. “This meant a lot to me since it showed all the hard work I put in to succeed.” Fitzsimmons other hobbies include hanging out with friends and family, and playing video games.
