KENILWORTH, NJ - At the School of Saint Theresa members from the seventh-grade class decided to pay a tribute to the eighth-graders the evening of their graduation. An organized caravan of cars was formed that took them through the towns of Kenilworth, Union, Elizabeth, Hillside, Roselle Park, Westfield, and Scotch Plains to stop at every graduate's home.
The seventh graders initiated their trek in the school parking lot where decorated cars lined up to start the 3.5 hour journey. Each eighth-grade student was greeted with a parade of honking cars, parents, and students screaming out words of love, appreciation, and encouragement while a seventh-grade student delivered a gift to the graduate. In addition, each eighth-grader that was part of the STS Varsity Boys Basketball Team received a special gift from their coaches.
STS parent Anna Cepeda-Mays was very pleased with the outcome. “The emotionally charged event was a much-needed occasion and symbolizes the St. Theresa's spirit of love and family.”
