Dear Graduating 8th Families:
We are excited to celebrate your child’s graduation with an in-person, modified graduation ceremony. While the ceremonies will look different from the year's past, we are committed to honoring our students in a memorable ceremony.
This correspondence is intended to provide you with the next level of details you need to know in order for the event to be successful. In the absence of being able to have graduation practices, students will receive additional information in the upcoming days.
All of our district decisions over the past several months have been aimed at keeping our school community safe, and these ceremonies will be no different. We are legally bound to follow the Governor’s Executive Orders and directives set forth by the NJ Department of Education. Moreover, as we are required to do, we need to have the plan for our graduations approved by the NJ State Department of Education to ensure it fulfills their health and safety requirements.
8th grade graduation will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd, with a rain date of Monday, July 27th.

PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY and allow enough time to undergo the entrance requirements established below in the Health & Safety Protocols: Entering Our Campus section of this letter.
In the event of a light drizzle, the ceremonies will still be held. In the event of a significant weather event, we will email notification that we are using our rain date by 9:00am the morning of the originally scheduled ceremony.
Waivers and Tickets
Each graduate will be mailed two tickets. This will allow the entire graduating class the ability to celebrate together as a cohort. Additionally, this allows us to be in compliance with the Governor’s orders for maximum capacity at outdoor gatherings.
Graduates, and their guests, must complete this medical waiver. You can print the waiver from the link. We’ll also be mailing home the waiver with your tickets. Each family must complete one waiver on behalf of their graduate and two attending guests.
If one of your guests does not live in the house to where the tickets are mailed, it is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to get the ticket to that person.
Tickets and waivers should be brought to the ceremony and will be submitted to attendants in a contactless way. Unfortunately, persons without a ticket or completed waiver will not be granted access to the event.
Health & Safety Protocols: Entering Our Campus
Social distancing will be enforced.
We strongly encourage guests to wear face coverings; when social distancing can’t be maintained, facial coverings are required.
The PTO has purchased Brearley facial coverings for 12th grade students which will be handed out to students the day of the ceremony; we strongly encourage them to be worn.
Temperatures of all graduates and guests will be taken. (This is why we request you arrive early.) Those with a temperature higher than 100.4 will not be allowed to participate. If you are ill, please stay home.

We are living through unique times. Our ceremonies will reflect this. Still, we are excited to honor our students!
