KENILWORTH, NJ - Voters will have their say on November 5 for the upcoming election for Kenilworth Mayor. The Mayoral candidates are Linda Karlovitch (D) and Salvatore Candarella (R). TAPinto Kenilworth has reached out to each of the Democratic and Republican candidates and will run a series for citizens to learn where each of the candidates stand on key issues that impact the township.

Linda Karlovitch is a lifelong Kenilworth resident, purchasing a home a few blocks away from where she grew up. She can be described as a “local girl” considering she grew up on 22nd Street where her dad still resides. A graduate of Harding elementary and David Brearley HS. Linda went on to begin her accomplished career.
After successfully managing other businesses, Linda chose to take on the role of small business owner. Linda always had aspirations to be a business owner and thereafter opened her business The Porch Salon in Cranford. Running her own business, successfully for 15 years as well as experience participating in the Cranford Downtown management efforts gave her a valuable perspective on this aspect of a municipality.
Linda has been an active volunteer with several organizations as well as community events. To name a few, the Kenilworth Silver Card, The Kenilworth Beautification Group, Kenilworth Restaurant Week, and Carve it out Kenilworth. Additionally, she served 8 years as a Director for an area Chamber of Commerce. In August 2017, Linda was appointed to the Borough Council to fill its open vacancy. Later elected to a three-year term in November 2017.
She currently serves as the Finance Chairperson for the Borough. In January 2019 Linda was selected Council President by her fellow council. A member of St. Theresa's, Linda and Joe are raising a terrific daughter who is currently enrolled in the Kenilworth public schools.
Sal Candarella’s greatest accomplishment was to marry his wife of 23 years, Darlene. Then 19 years ago, Sal and his wife adopted their son, a 6-month-old beautiful baby boy from Guatemala, and gave him the opportunities that most take for granted here in the USA.
Sal is a proud graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. He spent 20 years managing facilities, and ensuring profitability for the companies that he worked for. The last 19 years, Sal has been a part of a great diverse organization, and involved in many projects. Projects: VP of Celebrity Motor Car LLC which includes, Lexus of Route 10, Maserati and Alfa Romeo of Morris County, BMW of Springfield, and Mercedes of Golden Bridg, Senior VP ROI Management LLC, We own and manage $75,000,000.00 of commercial Real Estate, and have an additional $300,000,000.00 in future development projects in the planning stages, VP Operation Joe Zone LLC, Coffee shop franchise, Cammarota Real Estate, Sales Associate, and commercial consultant.
Personal Experience: Parishioner St Theresa Church, Member of the Superintendents Foundation Committee, 22-year member, Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree (Patriotic Degree), Past Grand Night, and Trustee. President/ Treasure David Brearley Music Booster Club, 6 years, PTO / Chef of the class of 2018 “ It’s Gravy not Sauce” Annual Dinner, Chef of the Catholic Daughter of America Annual Roast beef Dinner, NJ State Troopers Chef for “Pub Night” where they honor their fallen, (15 years), Salvation Army Volunteer, Volunteer chef for the Historical Society, “Pasta with Sinatra”, 15 year Volunteer for the Kenilworth annual Firemen’s Carnival, and Co-Chair of the K Of C Halloween Party for 7 years. Government Experience: 6 years on council, elected twice, Past Council President, Approx. 12 years on Planning Board and Board of Adjustment, Member Smart Growth Committee and Member Centennial Committee.
