Great Wall Chinese Kitchen has been a staple in Kenilworth for nearly 30 years and is now the only restaurant in Kenilworth that mainly serves Chinese cuisine. When the restaurant recently opened back up after being closed for several weeks during the pandemic, it was met with much anticipation. The restaurant, located at 711 Boulevard, is a family business that has a wide variety of authentic Szechuan, Hunan, and Cantonese dishes on its menu. Customers can order from many items such as appetizers including egg rolls, chicken wings, shrimp toast, and wontons and also soups including egg drop, wonton, and hot and sour to name a few. There are a variety of chow mein, lo mein, and fried rice dishes as well as entrées with chicken, pork, beef, seafood, and vegetables. According to Mey Cheng, whose mom owns the restaurant, some of the most popular dishes are the chicken wings, spare ribs, General Tso’s Chicken, Chicken & Broccoli, and the rice and noodle dishes. Cheng, who has lived in Kenilworth for over 24 years said, “This is a small, quiet town, and we love Kenilworth.”
