In 1987, Matt Nader of the Blue Chip Cookie Company based in San Francisco created Cookie Day celebrating it on the fourth of December

According to the Guinness Book of World Records the tallest cookie tower measured 6 ft 1/8 in tall. The tower was constructed by the Girl Scouts of Nassau County at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, New York on January 9, 2010. 22,800 cookies were used to build the tower and 60 girl scouts participated in shifts of 2 hours.

The English word “cookie” is derived from the Dutch word koekie meaning “little cake.”

The average American eats 35,000 cookies in a lifetime.
