Tonbo Mexican Grill has been a part of the Kenilworth community since it opened its doors six years ago. The restaurant, located at 700 Boulevard next to Krauser’s, specializes in offering a variety of dishes ranging from appetizers such as chips and salsa, queso, and guacamole to soups and tortilla salads. Other menu items include tacos, nachos, quesadillas, empanadas, and burritos. In addition to your typical burrito, the restaurant also serves burrito bowls, crunchy burritos, and California burritos which include a tortilla, French fries, beans, salsa, cheese, guacamole, queso, and sour cream. Customers can select meat options for the menu items including chicken, steak, ground beef, pork, shrimp, and vegetarian choices. According to the owner, Sam Wanis, some of their popular items are the quesadillas and the crunchy burrito. During the pandemic, customers can order via takeout or delivery from the restaurant, Door Dash, and Grub Hub. “Business is really slow, but we are surviving,” said Wanis. “During this time we are giving donations to local hospitals and trying to support others. We are thankful for the town of Kenilworth and for their support.”
