KENILWORTH, NJ - Please see the following statement issued by the Borough of Kenilworth regarding the RVSA.
It’s not a very exciting topic, but the assessment charges by the Rahway Valley Sewage Authority to Kenilworth have a sizable impact on local finances.
For that reason, the Borough has selected Councilman and Finance Chairmen Daniel Lopez to lead a committee consisting also of the local representative and the municipal engineer to meet with the authority.
“I fully appreciate the difficulty in convincing the authority that the past defective meters which continue to be used in averaging our costs must be addressed. I am pleased however that through the Borough’s efforts will get us a head-to-head meeting with the Executive Director to set forth our concerns” said Lopez.
Council President Lawrence Clementi who supported the effort added, “It was Dan Lopez who has been presenting the Borough’s opposition to the proposal of the New Jersey American Water company to hit our residents with a large increase. You have to give Dan a good deal of credit for digging into their financial efforts to save our resident's dollars.”
