KENILWORTH, NJ - Please see the following statement from Council President Lawrence Clementi.

At the end of last year we the Borough Council passed a resolution dealing with an area of cost for municipal government. Simply for the past 20 years the Borough like all communities must conform to the Open Public Meetings requirement to provide information requested by citizens. We all support the requirement. However, like many good programs the devil is in the details. Law firms soliciting work require the names of every person given a summons. Developers rather than do their research, they merely ask the Borough to do the work. There are also stiff penalties for us if there is noncompliance. There is also a cost in manpower to comply. This resolution requires the legislature to review the process and what changes are needed.
