KENILWORTH, NJ - Mary Glynos owner of Lilgymbuddy offers group training courses in Kenilworth for all ages. There is a free trial for new participants every Friday at the American Legion at 7:00 p.m. located at 238 North 14th Street.
Born and raised in Staten Island Glynos was the shortest athlete on her high school basketball team but was also the fastest and with a birth defect (cleft lip and palate). She joined the U.S. Army September 10, 2001. She served honorably for 6.5 years with two tours to Iraq. "I loved being a soldier but, I also loved helping my soldiers. During basic and job training the greatest joy I ever had was helping my fellow soldiers. I felt joy knowing I was helping my country by making better soldiers. That’s what I wanted to do with my life once I got out of the Army." For the past 12 years Glynos has been going back and forth with her own weight along with breast cancer, shoulder and knee surgeries. When she got out of the Army she was weighing in at 115 lbs. Two years later, Glynos started school for Medical Assistance and went up to 150 lbs. After receiving her Associates, she found herself at NPTI (National Personal Training Institute) studying to be a personal trainer.
"If I can put my mind to anything so can you. Do not let my height or military stature frighten you. I want to help you achieve a healthier life. Take your life into your own hands and make the healthier choice."
