KENILWORTH, NJ - The Kenilworth Police Department held its annual Police Youth Academy graduation on Friday, July 12. There was 37 students in the graduating class and the ceremony was held at the town hall. Chief John Zimmerman, Detective Brian Pickton, and the Kenilworth Police Department worked hard making this a week for the town’s young people to remember.

The week program included a trip to the Union County Jail and the Police Academy in Scotch Plains. TSA gave them a class on airport security, and they also met the Union County K-9 unit. At the ceremony each graduate was called up individually to receive recognition and a medal for their achievements. 

The Police Youth Academy is a program designed to provide positive interaction between the youth of the community and the officers who serve them. In a disciplined environment, the Academy emphasizes teamwork, respect, and professionalism through hands on education.
