On 6/4/19 at 00:44 hours Ptl. Robert Rueger stopped and arrested Connor Halpin, 18, of Cranford after a motor vehicle stop on the Kenilworth Boulevard.  During the stop for numerous traffic violations, Ptl. Rueger determined Halpin to be under the influence of alcohol.   A vehicle search also revealed suspected marijuana.  He was transported to Kenilworth Police Headquarters and later released.  He was charged with DWI, Possession of CDS/Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and issued several motor vehicles summonses.

Offense: Recovered Stolen Motor Vehicle

Officer: Ptl. Anthony Tancs

On 6/8/19 Ptl. Anthony Tancs responded to Newark Avenue on a report of a suspicious parked vehicle.  The vehicle was located and a records check revealed it was stolen out of Elizabeth.  The vehicle was towed and later released to the owner after notifying Elizabeth.

Offense: Motor Vehicle Burglary

On 6/8/19 Ptl. Anthony Tancs responded to a residence on South Michigan Avenue. On a report of Motor Vehicle Burglary after the fact.  The resident stated that his vehicle was entered and his belongings were pilfered through.  No suspect information was provided.  Anyone with information can contact the Detective Bureau at 908-276-1700.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated

On 6/13/19 Patrol Units were dispatched to North 21st Street on a report of a motor vehicle accident.  Upon arrival, Ptl. Travis Dilts located the accident and investigated.  After a thorough field investigation, the driver identified as Tatyana Kantorovich, 52, of Kenilworth was arrested for DWI after it was determined that she struck 2 parked vehicles.  Kantorovich was transported to Kenilworth Police Headquarters where she was served with complaints and later released.

Offense: Theft/Mail Fraud

Officer: Ptl. Sean Kaverick

On 6/13/19 Ptl. Sean Kaverick responded to a residence on South Michigan Avenue on a report of theft.  After speaking with the resident, it was discovered that a dark colored vehicle with multiple occupants entered a USPS mailbox located on South Michigan Avenue and stole several pieces of mail.  The mail contained the victim’s checks which were then fraudulently cashed.  Kenilworth Detectives and the USPS Police are investigating the incident.  Anyone with information is asked to call headquarters at 908-276-1700.

Offense: Internet Scam

On 6/15/19 Ptl. Matthew Torre responded to police headquarters to speak with a resident regarding an internet scam.  The resident stated that he was victimized out of $38,000 due to an internet scam where his computer was hacked and he was contacted by someone he believed to be from Microsoft.  Police Detectives are investigating the matter.  All residents are reminded to be cautious of similar crimes.

Offense: Motor Vehicle Burglary

On 6/13/19 Ptl. Michael Deviln responded to Boulevard 572 to speak with a patron who stated her vehicle was burglarized.  The victim stated she entered the establishment to dine and when she returned to her vehicle some of her belongings were missing.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Detective Bureau at 908-276-1700

On 6/16/19 Ptl. Matthew Torre responded to the Shell Gas at 951 Boulevard on a report of theft.  Upon arrival, the attendant advised Ptl. Torre that an unknown male operating a silver Hyundai stole $61.00 worth of gas.  No license plate was able to be retained and detectives are investigating.

Offense: Motor Vehicle Theft

On 6/19/19 Ptl. Robert Rueger responded to L&J Towing on the Kenilworth Boulevard on a report of motor vehicle theft.  Upon arrival, a victim from Cranford reported that his vehicle was impounded on 5/21/19 due to being involved in a motor vehicle accident and management advised him the vehicle is no longer in their inventory at the impound yard.  The vehicle was entered stolen and detectives are investigating.

Offense: Warrant Arrest

On 6/23/19 Ptl. Anthony Tancs arrested Jasmine Mckoy, 26, of Elizabeth for outstanding traffic warrants after a motor vehicle stop on the Kenilworth Boulevard.  After speaking with Mckoy, Ptl. Tancs completed a records check and discovered that she had numerous open warrants out of the City of Elizabeth and placed her under arrest.  Mckoy was transported to Kenilworth Police Headquarters where she received several motor vehicle summonses and Elizabeth Police Department was notified.

Offense:  Disorderly Conduct / Public Intoxication

On 6/28/19 patrol officers responded to the area of N. 15th Street & Monroe Avenue on a report of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance.  Upon arrival, Ptl. Fuschino & Ptl. Filipe located and arrested John Titus, 35, of Kenilworth for Public Intoxication/Disorderly Conduct.  He was transported to Kenilworth Police Headquarters and processed.  He was issued complaints and later released with a court date.

Offense:  Warrant Arrest

On 6/30/19, patrol officers were dispatched to the area of N. 20th Street on an alleged dispute.  Upon arrival, Ptl. Dilts located the 2 parties in the road and began to investigate.  A records check revealed one of the parties to have an open Traffic Warrant out of Westfield in the amount of $200.  Ptl. Dilts then arrested Alejandro Carreon, 36, of Kenilworth and transported him to Kenilworth Police Headquarters.  He was later released with a new court date after posting bail.

Offense:  Motor Vehicle Theft & Burglary

On 6/30/19, a resident of Pembrook Drive walked into police headquarters reporting an unknown male entered his neighbor’s vehicle and that he captured the footage on his surveillance cameras.  Patrols responded to the area and discovered several more vehicles were entered in the area.  A resident on N. 8th Street also reported his vehicle was stolen during the vehicle burglaries.  Surveillance footage from several residences was preserved and evidence was collected.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Offense: Receiving Stolen Property

On 7/9/19 Ptl. Tancs was on patrol in the town center and observed a white Jeep Cherokee improperly parked in front of the library.  Further observations by Ptl. Tancs was that 2 males in their 20’s were on foot and returning to the vehicle from the area of Kenilworth Jewelers.  A records check of the registration revealed that the vehicle was recently reported

stolen out of Jersey City.  While attempting to conduct a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle and the suspects, they immediately fled down S. 21st Street towards Cranford and a vehicle pursuit ensued.  The vehicle pursuit went through Cranford and back out to the Garden State Parkway where it was terminated in the area of I-78.  Anyone with information on the suspect’s identities can contact the Kenilworth Police Department at 908-276-1700.

On 7/10/19 patrol units responded to the auto shop located in the Shell Gas at 951 Boulevard on a reported theft.  Ptl. Rueger arrived on scene and was advised that an unidentified male exited his vehicle and stole used car parts from the business before fleeing east on the boulevard.  Detectives are investigating and anyone with information is asked to call 908-276-1700.

Offense:  Motor Vehicle Burglary

On 7/15/2019 patrol officers responded to a residence on N. 22nd Street on a report of an attempted motor vehicle burglary.  Upon arrival, Ptl. Dilts spoke with the resident who captured a dark colored Infiniti pull up to his residence.  A female then exited the passenger side of the vehicle and entered the driveway attempting to gain entry on his vehicle.  After being unsuccessful, she returned to the vehicle and fled the scene.  Detectives are investigating and anyone with information can contact the Detective Bureau at 908-276-1700.

Offense:  Motor Vehicle Theft

On 7/15/19 patrol units were dispatched to a residence on N. 21st Street on a report of motor vehicle theft.  Upon arrival, Ptl. Dilts spoke with the homeowner who state 2 of his vehicles were stolen from his residence during the overnight hours.  The owner advised Ptl. Dilts that the vehicles were unlocked and the keys were accidentally left in one of the vehicles.  Detectives are investigating.

On 7/17/19 officers responded to the area of Boulevard & N 22nd Street on a suspicious person.  Upon arrival, Ptl. Dilts located Justin Rodriguez, 20, of Waymart PA and initiated a conversation.  After speaking with Rodriguez, it was determined that he was under the influence of alcohol and an open container was located on his person.  He was placed under arrest and transported to Kenilworth Police Headquarters where he was issued several summonses and later released to the custody of his father.
