Driving While Intoxicated

On October 26, 2019 at 8:32pm Ptl. Leo Filipe responded to a single car motor vehicle crash involving a vehicle that knocked down a utility pole. At the scene, Ptl. Filipe arrested the driver Daniel Retana of Kenilworth for driving while intoxicated.He was not injured and PSE&G was called to the scene to repair the damage.The driver has a scheduled appearance in Kenilworth Municipal court to answer a number of motor vehicle summonses.

Weapons Offense

On October 29, 2019 at 8:15pm members of the Kenilworth Police Department were called to Party City located at 2540 Route 22 in Kenilworth for a fight involving a knife and pepper spray.At the scene Keisha Coleman of Jersey City was arrested and charged with Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Terroristic Threats. The arrest stemmed from an argument over a parking space outside the popular store two nights before Halloween.The victims were not injured during the incident.

Disorderly Person

An employee at a local hair salon called police and reported that Dale Durham entered their store and began yelling obscenities at her. Upon arrival to the scene Lt. Sims and Ptl. Matthew Torre found Durham to be possession of an open container of alcohol. He was charged with local borough ordinances for violation of the public peace and consuming alcohol in public.

Driving While Intoxicated

On November 8, 2019 Lt. Jim Grady was flagged down and directed to the scene of a motorist stopped for an extended period of time at the traffic signal at Boulevard and Michigan Ave.At the signal Lt. Grady discovered Richard Mazza of Kenilworth where he conducted a traffic investigation for driving while intoxicated.Mazza was subsequently arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusing to provide breath samples for testing. He was released with a scheduled appearance in Kenilworth Municipal Court.

Possession of Marijuana

On November 14, 2019 at 12:25 p.m. school resource officer Detective Brian Pickton arrested Nikolas Perez (18) of Kenilworth for possessing marijuana inside David Brealey High School. Perez was issued a summons and has an appearance in Kenilworth Municipal court on December 18, 2019.
