KENILWORTH, NJ – Tonight is a big game for the Brearley Bears Varsity Soccer Team. They will play the Cranford Cougars in the first round of the Union County Tournament Wednesday, October 2, at 7:00 p.m. at Cranford High School. “We are excited to face a team like Cranford, a very strong and skillful side” head coach Vincent McGowan said. “Cranford plays in a conference where they have to play three teams in the top twenty twice each.  We know this will be a big challenge for us.”

The varsity team has been working extremely hard these past couple of weeks. Just in the past twelve days they have played six games. Coach McGowan hopes the boy’s legs will be ready for this match. “We have been moving players around to various positions on the field.  Hopefully, that kind of experience will help us in tough games like the one we will have with Cranford.  We know that we have some other challenges to overcome, such as playing on a narrow turf field as opposed to our home field which is natural grass and is one of the widest fields in the county.”
