KENILWORTH, NJ – The David Brearley Girls Varsity Soccer Team will open its 2019 season today at 4 p.m. when they play Benedictine Academy at home.
Michelle Ventura, entering her sixth year as the head coach believes the girls will train and play hard to live up to her expectations as well as the fans. “We lost a few key players this year but we have found talented athletes to replace those positions. We are a small, but a very talented group of girls. Of the six years I have been the varsity coach here at Brearley, this is the most confident I’ve been with my girls.”
The varsity team lost 2-0 in the semifinals against New Providence for the state championship for their group. The record last year was 14-3-2 and 11-1 overall in their conference. The Brearley girls were co-champions of the conference with Roselle Park. This year they are looking to release the “co” and hold the title just for themselves.
Ventura and the team are extremely motivated and eagerly look forward to the upcoming season.
