Brearley now snatches first place in the Union Division at 5-0 with two division games remaining and are 5-1 overall.
The game was thrilling and kept the crowd and players on their toes. “Really was one of the best games in recent memory, and one of the biggest wins in years” Recreation Director and Kenilworth photographer Pat Boyle said. “Being involved has been a complete honor. The feeling walking off of that field, is a feeling that you, and all of us, will remember for the rest of our lives’
Highlights of the game include Derek Graichen scoring a touchdown with a one-yard run on a fourth-and goal with only four seconds left of the game. Graichen finished with 160 yards, three touchdowns on 24 carries. Danny Ramos threw for 131 yards making 10 out of 17 attempts and ran for 80 yards. The Bears defense came out resilient and solid. Michael Dotro made 15 tackles and one sack, Quinn Lonergan 11, and Graichen nine.
Junior quarterback Danny Ramos made an inspiring statement. “It was a great team win and definitely the win we needed. We stayed together and composed throughout the tough parts in the game. We knew what was at stake and how important the game was. We are enjoying this win but there is a lot more work to be done to be where we want to be. We don’t want to get comfortable yet. Our next game is also a big one and we will approach it how we do every game. We will practice hard all week and hope to execute come Friday night. The town has supported us so much and we appreciate everyone cheering us on throughout the season.”
The Bears hope to continue on with their wining streaking when they take on South Hunterdon at the Homecoming Game this Friday, October 18, at 7:00 p.m.
