UNION, NJ - July 17, 2019, 12-year-old Jeremy Maraj while crossing Galloping Hill Road near Forest Drive was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver. The incident occured around 8:00 p.m. when the driver of a white work van struck the child and fled the scene. He was rushed to University Hospital in Newark with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased the next morning. 

The matter is currently being investigated as a vehicular homicide by both the Union County Homicide Task Force and Union Police Department.  Anyone with information is being urged to contact Task Force Detective Sean Holcomb at 908-358-8377 or Union Police Officer Michael Salerno at 908-851-5070.
