CLARK, NJ - An 82-year-old pedestrian died at the scene of a hit-and-run on Tuesday morning according to Mayor Sal Bonaccorso. The man was crossing Raritan Road at the intersection of the Clarkton Shopping Center when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle heading east on Raritan Road said Bonaccorso. The motorist fled the scene.

According to Bonaccorso, those that knew the victim said he lived in a nearby apartment complex and crossed the intersection each morning to get a cup of coffee.

Raritan Road was closed between Westfield and Central Avenues for several hours while Clark Police, Union County Police and the Union County Homicide Task Force began an investigation.   Bonaccorso urged anyone who witnessed the incident to call the Clark Police immediately at 732-388-3434.
