LINDEN, NJ - Linden High School senior Kyle Lipscomb on Monday, Nov. 19, committed to joining the Rutgers University track and field team.

He will compete in shot put and discus, two events he has excelled at in high school.

In his junior year at Linden High School, Lipscomb won a state championship in the shot put with a throw of 53 feet, 31⁄4 inches to take first place at the NJSIAA Section 2 Group 4 championships, where he also placed second in the discus. He went on to place second in the discus in Group 4 for the entire state, and second at the prestigious Meet of Champions in the discus, setting a school record with a
throw of 184 feet, 8 inches.

Lipscomb is considered one of the best in the state in both events entering the upcoming spring season. Lipscomb is also a standout student, having made the honor roll in every marking period of high school, and looks forward to pursuing his academic career at the state university.
