LINDEN, NJ - Linden High School will welcome students from Allen High School in Allen, Texas, for a visit this week as part of their “Tale of Two Cities” program.  The two schools have had a special relationship since shortly after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Students and staff from Allen reached out to Linden High School shortly after 9/11 in a gesture of sympathy and unity, showing that schools all over the country were thinking of students in the Northeast.  The schools come together for a memorial service via video conference every year on Sept. 11, and they take turns visiting each other every other year. This year is Allen’s turn to visit Linden, from April 12 to 15. Thursday: The Allen students will be greeted Thursday night at 6 p.m. at Linden High School and will have dinner with LHS students and staff. Friday: Students from both schools meet at 7:30 a.m. in the Linden High School Academy of Science and Technology, and march across St. Georges Avenue with the LHS Navy Junior ROTC for a grand entrance into the high school’s main building. The students will have breakfast, then attend classes together. In the afternoon, they will take a trip to the Jersey Shore.  Saturday: The students will take a trip to New York City, visiting the National September 11 Memorial and Museum and attending the Broadway show “Come From Away.”  Sunday: The students will have a farewell breakfast at the Hampton Inn in Linden, before the Allen students return home.
