LINDEN, NJ - Members of the Linden Public Schools family will go around town on Dec. 10 “Caroling for a Cause,” spreading joy with holiday music and accepting donations for the district’s third annual holiday toy and gift drive.
Several buses will transport carolers – along with Santa Claus – around the city to visit the homes of residents who registered.
Registration opened on Nov. 25 and all 70 slots were filled in two days.
After the caravan has hit all the houses on Santa’s list, everyone will come back together for a community caroling extravaganza at Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade in Downtown Linden.
While making the rounds, carolers will be accepting donations of cash and gift cards for the holiday gift drive, which will help needy families around Linden. Each school in the district has set up a giving tree and is accepting a donation of toys, gifts, cash and gift cards. The cash and gift cards will be used to buy more gifts to be given to families that have been identified by school-based social workers.
Last year’s Caroling for a Cause was a huge success, raising $1,000. The drive raised a total of
$1,300 in cash donations, and numerous toys and gifts through school-based drives.
In total, the district was able to distribute more than 1,300 toys and other gifts to needy families in the gift drive’s second year.
