LINDEN, NJ - The Superintendent of Schools, Danny A. Robertozzi, has requested that the County Board of Elections and the Municipal Clerk remove all polling sites from the Linden Public Schools.

Mr. Robertozzi has asked this request due to the prevalence of school violence plaguing the country.  The Board of Education no longer feels that the schools are appropriate voting locations.  Robertozzi further stated that the wellbeing of the students and staff are paramount and the District is concerned due to the excessive traffic of persons inside the school buildings during elections; while school is in sessions.

The new security measures recently implemented are not sufficient to properly monitor election traffic or safeguard the students and staff, stated Superintendent Robertozzi.

The November general election will not be affected by this new policy due to schools being closed during that time.  The policy will affect the June primary elections. (N.J.S.A. 19:8-2).  Linden residents are advised to designated non-school voting sites within the City of Linden.
