LINDEN, NJ - A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Union County area until 5:30 p.m. Friday evening.
The thunderstorm was located via radar over Linden and Carteret, moving northeast at 20 mph. It is expected to damage to trees and power lines.
Flash flood warnings are expected to begin shortly and last till approximately 6:00 p.m.
The Weather Service reports that winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail are possible with this storm.
“Torrential rainfall can occur with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding,” the service warned. “Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles."
