LINDEN, NJ - Two Linden Public school students are all set to be honored for their participation in the 10th Annual Peace Islands Institute Art and Essay Contest.
Javaree Gordon, a Linden High school senior, won third place and a $200 prize for his essay titled “Silence” about a girl struggling with the death of her mother and isolation during quarantine.

Daniyel Brackett, also a senior at Linden High school, received an honorable mention and $100 prize for the artwork she submitted.
This year's theme of the contest is “Solidarity in the Middle of a Pandemic.” Students were asked to send in submissions examining how a tragic pandemic can bring the best out of people.
Both recipients will be honored at a virtual award ceremony on January 28.
