UPDATE: Jeffrey Mendoza, after being missing for about a week, has been reportedly found dead in Newark.

According to the Linden Police officials, the investigation has been turned over to Newark Police Department, and they have no comment regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.

Mendoza was a student at Union County College and President Margaret McMenamin issued a message to students staff this morning announcing the Mendoza's passing.

"Any loss of life is tragic, but Jeffrey was 20 years old with his whole life ahead of him," said McMenamin. "He was also a captain of our men's soccer team. He was a well-liked young man, and I know he will be deeply missed by his teammates and friends from the College community."

Funeral services for Mendoza will be held on Thursday, March 4 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Werson Funeral Home located at 635 North Wood Avenue in Linden.

LINDEN, NJ - A Linden man is missing and his family members are seeking the public's support to locate him.

According to family members, Jeffrey Mendoza was last seen Saturday, February 20, 2021, around the area of 2800 Orchard Terrace.

According to his family, he left Orchard Terrace around 10:30 p.m. and went to the area surrounding the 1100 block of Bower Street.

Mendoza was last seen in a black Honda Civic with license plate K77 ENB.
