LINDEN, NJ - The Tenth Annual Black History month essay contest for Linden students in grades five through twelve is back for Linden residents.
The essay requirements are that all work is original and meet the recommended word count which is 300 words for fifth grade students, 500 words for sixth - eighth grade students, and a minimum of 750 words for High school students.
This year's essay prompt is, " Did you know that an African American..."
The students are encouraged to write about historical and modern-day African American contributors to our society. Someone whose contributions may or may not be well known by the general public such as business owners, inventors, artists, musicians, etc.
The entries should be submitted via email to Councilwoman Rhashonna C. Cosby via email at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Monday, February 17, 2020.
The students will get notified if they are selected to read their original works at the February 25, 2020 celebration of Black History.
