LINDEN, NJ - New Leaders Council New Jersey (NLC NJ) today announced that Katlyn Wojtowicz ‘17, and
Stephanie Brown ‘17, have been elected to serve as Chapter Director and Deputy Chapter
Director, respectively. Wojtowicz succeeds outgoing Chapter Director, Katie Brennan ‘14, who
has served as Chapter Director since 2017. Brown succeeds Wojtowicz as Deputy Chapter
“Over the past three years, the work of our Executive Board has taken the organization to new
heights. The Institute offers a top-notch fellowship experience. The recruitment and selection
process is of professional quality. The mentorship program has taken off. We've held policy
events, interviewed gubernatorial candidates, and strengthened our diversity and alumni
programming. Our fellows come from a wider variety of backgrounds and industries than ever
before. More than 10 percent of our alumni have held elected office. Last year, we watched as
unprecedented numbers of our alumni entered public service in some of the highest State level
positions. New Leaders Council is recognized across New Jersey as a seal of progressive
leadership,” remarked Brennan.
In 2015, Brennan served as Institute Co-Chair leading the fellowship experience and curriculum,
and in 2016 served as Deputy Chapter Director overseeing and assisting with chapter-wide
operations. From 2017 until 2019, Brennan served as NLC NJ Chapter Director.
“It’s my honor to not only serve as Chapter Director of New Leaders Council New Jersey, but
also to be succeeding such a strong and inspiring leader such as Katie. She is leaving NLC NJ
better off than when she became a Fellow in 2014, and I hope to continue that legacy. I am
eager to work with our executive board to take NLC NJ into the future by continuing to identify
and recruit future fellows from outside of the traditional power structure and equip them with the
skills they need to lead and continue to grow the progressive movement. We’ve begun recruiting                     for our 2020 Fellows class, and I look forward to meeting and interviewing these prospective
Fellows,” stated Wojtowicz.

“NLC NJ has had a profound impact on my growth as a leader, and as an engaged New
Jerseyan. It has empowered me, and so many of my fellow alumni, to truly create change in our
communities. I have been witness to the incredible dedication our past leadership has
committed to the success of this organization, and I am excited to take on this new role to
continue that work. With Kaitlyn at the helm as our new Chapter Director, and the leadership
from our diverse and thoughtful executive board, our mission to build the progressive bench in
NJ is in incredibly capable hands,” said Brown.
