With the safety and health of our students and staff as our number one priority, we are informing you that the Linden Public School District is closing due to COVID-19 related concerns. This decision was made in collaboration with the Linden Health Department and other Linden officials. As of this letter, we have not had a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the Linden Public Schools. We are making this decision as a proactive measure for the safety of our students, staff, and the entire community of Linden.

The home instructional plan will begin on Monday, March 16, 2020. As per our last communication, details of our instructional plan can be found on our website at the following link: http://www.linden.k12.nj.us/?page_id=12337

Information regarding counseling services for students is available on the website as well.

Buildings will be open on Monday, March 16, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in order to give students some time to collect any school or personal belongings they may need for a prolonged closure. Students are reminded to remove any perishable items from their lockers during this time as well.

Additionally, please know that if your child is part of the free and reduced lunch program, we will be preparing meals for “grab and go” pick-up, beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the following locations:

Linden High School – Gymnasium Lobby, Ainsworth Street

School 2 - Main Entrance, 17th Street

While it is difficult to determine how long the District will be closed, we are planning for two weeks, from March 16-27, 2020. This is an extremely fluid situation, with developing information coming out each day. We truly appreciate your flexibility, patience, and understanding.

Sincerely,

Denise Cleary
Interim Superintendent of Schools
