CLARK, NJ – Keeping unwanted sneakers out of landfills and using them to benefit those suffering from pediatric cancer was a double-goal achieved by the National Junior Honor Society at Saint John the Apostle School recently.

During their “Dunk Your Kicks for Pediatric Cancer” campaign the students collected over 100 pairs of sneakers for the cause.   The Saint John students worked with the Student Athletic Advisory Committee of Caldwell University to collect nearly new sneakers for several weeks in an effort to aid in the fight against pediatric cancer. The sneakers are collected and turned into dollars for the Max Cure Foundation.

According to their website, Max Cure's mission is to “fund research for the development of pediatric cancer drug therapies including the discovery of less toxic treatments for children with cancer; to financially assist low-income, military and first-reponder families battling cancer in their children; and pursue legislative and regulatory changes that seek to benefit children with cancer and at the same time, raise awareness to the needs of those fighting pediatric cancers.”
