LINDEN, NJ - The count of people in the city with confirmed cases of the coronavirus, COVID-19 rose to 31 with one case that resulted in death, according to the latest city update this afternoon. 

The update, provided by Mayor Derek Armstead and the City Council, noted Murphy’s executive order signed Wednesday and his announcement that decisions regarding the opening of New Jersey schools will not be made until after April 17, at the earliest.

The update provided a list of city offices closed due to the pandemic. See the list below:

  • Linden City Hall - 908-474-8493 

  • Linden Department of Public Works - suspended Sewer Maintenance.

  • Linden Municipal Court - 908-474-8423

  • Linden Welfare Office - 908-474-8620

  • Linden Public Library - online services available.

  • Linden Multi-Purpose Center

  • Linden PAL

  • John T. Gregorio Recreation Center - seniors who receive Meals on Wheels will receive at-home delivery.

Linden Public Schools

Linden School District continues to offer the Grab and Go Program for students who are in need of lunch. This program is for all school age children and lunches can be picked up at the following locations:

  • Linden High School on the Ainsworth Street side, gym entrance
  • School #2 on the West 17th Street side
  • School #5 on the East Curtis St side, rear door

Additionally, IPads were distributed by the district to all students grades 1 through 5 to provide additional technology during at home learning. 

Interim Superintendent Denise Cleary wrote in a letter to parents and guardians, "we will continue to provide students and families with the resources they need to continue their education in the various new learning environments as we move forward in these unpredictable times," she said.

The last day for IPad pick up is Friday, March 27.
