LINDEN, NJ – Two men from Elizabeth were arrested following a police pursuit that ended with a motor vehicle collision on S. Stiles St, last week.

According to authorities, on August 22, at approximately 11:40 pm officers attempted to stop a 2013 Toyota Highlander. The vehicle pulled over, but sped away as the officers exited their vehicle to approach. 

The officers pursued the suspected vehicle until it crashed into a tree on the 200 block of S. Stiles St. The driver and three passengers exited the vehicle and ran from the scene.

Officers apprehended three of the suspects in backyards nearby. The fourth suspect was later apprehended near S. Park Ave by an officer working an off-duty construction job.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Yeuris Sandobal, an 18-year-old Elizabeth resident. He is charged with second-degree resisting arrest, fourth-degree obstructing arrest, and fourth-degree possession of stolen property. 

Juan Marin-Tangarife, an 18-year-old Elizabeth resident, is also charged with fourth degree obstructing arrest and fourth degree possession of stolen property. 

Arteaga and Marin-Tangarife were both treated for minor injuries following the crash. They were later released pending an appearance in superior court.

Two juveniles were also taken into custody in connection with the incident. They were released pending the filing of complaints in Family Court.

These criminal charges are mere accusations. Each defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
