LIttle Egg Harbor/Tuckerton NJ - The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning that remains in effect for our area. The latest local forecast shows wind equivalent to Tropical Storm Force with peak forecast 40- 50 mph with gust to 70 mph happening Tuesday, Aug 4 throughout the day into evening. The National Weather Service advises everyone in our region to prepare for property for dangerous winds and wind damage, as well as move to everyone to safe shelter. As they are uncertain in track, size and intensity a flash flood watch remains in effect Aug 3 10pm to Aug 5 12 AM EDT.
The potential impact is significant with damage to roofing, porches, awnings and sheds. Please secure lightweight objects, and prepare for impassable access routes if trees or power lines blow over. The local forecast calls for storm surge within surge prone areas through the morning of Wednesday, August 5. Moderate rainfall flooding as well as swollen rivers and tributaries is also on the alert that was issued today. Heavy rain associated with Tropical Storm Isaias is expected to start as early as Monday night and will continue throughout the day Tuesday. Widespread amounts of 4 to 6 inches are forecast with locally higher totals possible.
