MONTCLAIR, NJ - A 10-year-old male reported an attempted luring incident to Montclair Police officials on Thursday. This is the second luring report within less than two weeks.

According to police officials, at approximately 5 p.m. on Thursday, the 10-year-old male was walking on Harrison Avenue when he was approached by a male operating an older style, dark color van.

Lt. David O'Dowd of the Montclair Police Department wrote, "The operator of this vehicle was described as a white male, 40-50 years old with a brown beard."

It was reported to police that the male pulled the vehicle over beside the juvenile offering him a ride and and inquired if he was lost.

"The juvenile did not respond to this subject and fled the area," O'Dowd said.

A prior incident was reported on Jan. 31 at approximately 8:20 a.m. with another male juvenile.

A 9-year-old male told officers that he was walking on Harrison Avenue and was approached by a male operating a green cargo style van with no rear windows.

The juvenile described him as a white male, having curly hair and a gray/brown beard, according to O'Dowd.  The man then exited the vehicle and asked the juvenile if he was lost.

The juvenile did not interact with this subject and immediately left the area on foot.

These incidents are currently under investigation.
