WEST ORANGE, NJ - Based on the efforts of the girls’ team this season, the West Orange High School TAP Team has recognized junior Teresa Narduzzi as a standout, and has selected her as the Athlete of the Week.
Teresa Narduzzi has been swimming for eight years—both for the high school and for club teams. She swims year round and considers swimming one of her passions. She said she enjoys the breaststroke the most.
“Swimming in college is one of my dreams,” said Narduzzi. “I want to swim D1, or at a Big Ten School,” she said.
As a captain, Narduzzi is looking forward to leading the team next year into another winning season. “Since we had a winning record this year, I would like that to continue,” said Narduzzi. “The girls’ team could definitely make states next year.”
WOHS Swim Coach Marc Navata commented on Teresa’s success by saying, “Teresa is the epitome of a leader. In her second year as captain, she and co-captain Rebekah Pedo have created a strong bond with their teammates and a winning atmosphere.”
Outside of the swimming pool, Narduzzi has an affinity toward the arts and considers English and History her favorite subjects. She is in the Spanish Club and the Rho Kappa History Honors Society. In her free time, she enjoys baking. Throughout the halls of West Orange High School, Narduzzi can be found with a smile on her face.
“Even though swimming is thought of as an individual sport, Teresa has always put her individual achievements secondary, and the success of the team as her priority,” said Navata.
With athletes like Narduzzi, the swim team looks to experience success next year and in years to come.
Like most of The Alternative Press (TAP) sites, Livingston TAP has a team of student interns who help us report on sports and other school-related activites. As part of the intern program, each week, the student interns choose an "Althlete of the Week" to write on for http://www.thealternativepress.com/towns/livingston. This column celebrates outstanding LHS student athletes and showcases our student interns' writing skills.
