LIVINGSTON, NJ — Sophomore right-hander Jon DePalma pitched a five-inning two-hitter to lead Livingston to a 10-0 baseball victory over Newark Academy on opening day Monday.

DePalma walked just one batter and struck out two in an economical 45-pitch effort. DePalma's effort turned into a mercy rule-shortened complete game when Livingston scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Anthony Barbella went 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored; David Cotugno went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored; and Mike Ilaria was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI for the Lancers.
