Boys Lacrosse's Jason Scher Named Livingston Athlete of the Week

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston boys lacrosse star Jason Scher, who was named captain this season as a junior, was recently ranked at No. 7 in the state for assists and total points, earning him the title of Dr. Michael Rieber’s Livingston Athlete of the Week.

After breaking the 100-point mark for his career, Scher is the top point-scorer in the entire Super Essex Conference (SEC).

“[Jason] has a tremendous lacrosse IQ, meaning his knowledge of the game is at a very high level that he is a coach on the field, helping his teammates be in the correct positions on the field,” said Livingston head coach Brad Dzama. “He is an indispensable leader within the program.”

In addition to excelling on the turf, Scher also maintains a 4.5 grade point average (GPA) at Livingston High School and is currently taking an impressive five advanced proficiency (AP) classes.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - An Essex County man died Friday night after a shooting in New Brunswick, authorities announced on Saturday.
