LIVINGSTON, NJ — Grant Shevrin achieved a hat trick to help the Livingston boys soccer team come up with a 7-0 victory over Newark Central on Wednesday.

Holden Miller assisted on three of the goals for the Lancers (4-1-1), who pulled away with five second-half goals after holding a 2-0 halftime edge. Kyle Loventhal, Lucas Lang, Neal Hejib and Jared Fiske each scored one goal.

Lancer assists came from Noah Fisher, Rohan Mehta, Krish Malhotra and Ben Goldsmith. Livingston attempted double the number of shots on goal that Central did, 14-7. Both Logan Paredes and Ben Pawlak made two saves in the victory.

The victory was the fourth shutout of the season for Livingston, whose only loss so far has been a 1-0 decision to highly regarded Millburn on Oct. 7. Shevrin and Fiske lead the team with three goals apiece on the season, but the scoring has been balanced and the defense solid.

Miller has two goals to go with three assists for the Lancers, who have received goals from seven different players and assists from nine different players. Lucas Chisarick is second on the team in total assists with two.

In goal, Pawlak has 19 saves so far this season.

Livingston's next game is at home Friday against Montclair-Kimberley Academy. Spectators are allowed at Livingston's home games,  but they must wear a mask and social distance.

There is no Essex County Tournament this season because of the condensed nature of the campaign. There will, however, still be a shortened state tournament that is scheduled to begin in the middle of November.
