LIVINGSTON, NJ — Among the many community members honored during last week’s Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC) awards dinner at the Crystal Plaza were Monte Ehrenkranz of Regal Bank, who was named Business Person of the Year, and CareOne LLC, which was named Business of the Year.

Ehrenkranz, who also serves as president of the LACC, started his banking career in 1983 and developed an enjoyment for networking and community involvement while in positions at various companies. His deep affection for Livingston began when he discovered the township through his aunt at 12 years old and was solidified when he was hired by Livingston’s NorCrown Bank.

Since 2009, Ehrenkranz has served as vice president of business development at Regal Bank, which is also headquartered in Livingston. He has also been an active LACC member for more than 20 years as well as a past president and active member of the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club for the past 10 years.

“I am truly humbled by this honor and to be a small part of making this great town a little better every day,” said Ehrenkranz. “My job at Regal Bank, which I love, has provided me the privilege of meeting and becoming frieds with many of you that are here tonight…

“There are people in this room tonight that care so much and volunteer for numerous organizations to make this a better and unique community I’m proud to be recognized as one of them tonight. My life is better because of all of you.”

Ehrenkranz and his wife, Ellie, have been married for more than 30 years, and together they have two daughters: Jacqueline and Michelle. As he thanked his family for attending the event, Ehrenkranz noted that he and Ellie where married at the Crystal Plaza, where the ceremony took place.

He also thanked his fellow Sunrise Rotary Club members, bank customers and coworkers who attended the event, including Regal Bank Executive Vice President Daniel Tower, who introduced Ehrenkranz for the award.

“I consider myself very fortunate to have met Monte and gotten to know him, his lovely wife, Ellie, and his girls, Michelle and Jackie,” said Tower. “We’ve shared a lot together, we’ve coached soccer together, worked at a couple banks together, have had a lot of fun together and he’s been very instrumental in the success of Regal Bank through his interactions here at the chamber, so it truly is an honor for me to introduce my fellow employee and longtime friend Monte Ehrenkranz as the Business Person of the Year.”

LACC member Margie Heller of Saint Barnabas Medical Center introduced 2019 Business of the Year, CareOne, which has been invested in the Livingston community since opening the doors of its skilled nursing facility in 2002 and assisted living facility in 2005.

“Not only does CareOne employ 10,000 people throughout New Jersey, but they have cared for over 100,000 seniors over the last 10 years,” said Heller, adding that through its foundation, CareOne has also raised more than $12 million for various organizations such as the Valerie Fund, the Make a Wish Foundation and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. “CareOne is a great community partner. They give back to the community in a host of ways [and] is also invested in its employees.”

Tim Hodges, chief strategy officer at CareOne, accepted the award on behalf of the company and recognized various staff members for their “endless dedication” to quality service.

“There’s no greater honor than to provide care for the generation who helped build our country, fought for their country, fought for our freedom and worked tirelessly for the next generation to have a better life,” said Hodges. “We thank you all for being great leaders and for allowing us to be a crucial part of your community and to care for your elderly family members, friends and neighbors.”

The family-owned health care company’s goal is to support communities not only as a health care provider but also as a place of employment and as a community resource. CareOne at Livingston can regularly be found participating community events throughout the year.

CareOne’s services range from the most innovative post-acute rehabilitation to the most advanced long-term to mention capable care, all on one campus located in a park-like setting that allows residents and patients to focus on recovery while also being in close proximity to hospitals. The newly renovated centers in Livingston are designed with private suites and outdoor living spaces located at 76 Passaic Avenue.
