Christmas Concert with the Yue Yue Ensemble, 12/11 at Trinity in Livingston

A Christmas concert by the Yue Yue Ensemble featuring sacred choral music, solos, Christmas carols and works by Mozart, Rutter, Praetorius, Holst and Shaw will be presented at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11, at Trinity Covenant Church in Livingston.

The ensemble has been together since 1990; this event is under the direction of Dr. Shenghwa Yu.  The accomplished choral group has appeared in many venues, including the International Festival at Liberty State Park and the Rutgers University Summer Music Festival.  In 1995, it performed Haydn’s Creation chorus with the Metropolitan Orchestra; in 1993, Yue Yue was invited by the Eugene O’Neill Theatre to sing at the recording session of Tan Dun’s opera, “Marco Polo.”

“Yue Yue” is a Chinese play on words meaning both “monthly” and “happiness.”  The volunteer chorus rehearses many times each month at several venues around the state, including Trinity Covenant Church.  The singers pursue other professional careers, but gather together to sing for the joy of it.

Admission to the concert is free; a free-will offering will be accepted to benefit mission projects.  Trinity Covenant Church is located at 343 E. Cedar Street in Livingston.  For more information, contact the church at 973-992-4044 or visit Yue Yue’s web site,  For more information about other events at Trinity, visit their web site at
