Botulinum toxin A, also sold under the brand name Botox and Dysport, is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures today.  Botulinum toxin can remove unwanted wrinkles and is primarily used in the upper face in the brow region, forehead, and crow's feet.  It can also be injected in the lower face and neck to make you look years younger.  It is a very safe and effective cosmetic procedure when performed by a trained medical provider.

The cost of botulinum toxin depends on several factors including the location, the experience of the injector, and the brand used.  The price can be charged either per unit or by area injected.  Be wary of the cost associated with Botox or Dysport when injected per area. If a price seems too good to be true, it probably means that you may require more units.  Always ask how many units you are getting when you are charge a price by area.  In general, the cost can vary tremendously, but expect to pay anywhere from $10 to $20 a unit for Botox in New Jersey.  Dysport cost typically ranges from $4 to $6 per unit.  While this price may seem significanly less when compared to Botox, it is important to realize that 2.5 to 3 units of Dysport are equivalent to Botox.  That being said, there is no major difference between the duration, side effects, and results produced by either of these botulinum toxins.

Cost can also vary by geographical locations.  Expect to pay more in a high end medical spa or when the procedure is performed by a physician. You can certainly find a place that performs Botox for much cheaper, but always ask many questions.   While, it has often been said that only a dermatologist or plastic surgeon can perform the procedure, ay physician with the appropriate training and understanding of facial anatomy can perform the procedure.  The most important aspect is the skill and experience of the injector.

At Ethos Spa, Skin and Laser Center, we offer both Botox and Dysport.  We charge $14 per unit of Botox and $4 per unit for Dysport.  There is never any sitting fee or consultation fee.  The price you will be charged will strictly depend on the total number of units you get.  In the future, there may be more alternatives for botulinum toxin and cost may eventually decrease.  In general, you get what you pay for.  Ask you injector his or her experience with Botox and Dysport.  A good injector will explain the expected results, duration, side effects, and approximate cost associated with the injections.  At Ethos Spa, our goal is to educate our clients and make sure they have a thorough understanding of all aspects of the procedure including cost.  We invite you to a complimentary consultation with one of our physicians to determine if Botox or Dysport is right for you.
