The Saint Barnabas Imaging Center, located at the Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center, 200 South Orange Avenue, Livingston, has been chosen as the first and only site in the country to debut the latest generation in MRI systems: the Ingenia 1.5 Wide Bore Digital MRI system from Philips Healthcare.  Ingenia, the first-ever digital broadband MRI solution, delivers enhanced clinical versatility and improved patient comfort in one system.  The Ingenia system introduces, for the first time in MRI, digital signal acquisition and processing directly in the RF receive coil nearest to the patient. This digital signal acquisition and processing facilitates the delivery of crisp image clarity to help clinicians make informed decisions for a wide range of clinical procedures, including traditional applications like neuro and musculoskeletal and fast-growing applications like body and cardiac. Its speed minimizes patient exam time and patient repositioning.  It truly is designed with the patient in mind.  The wide bore provides more space for larger patients and reduces anxiety.

“The Ingenia MRI system we have installed offers an unprecedented combination of clinical excellence and patient comfort.  Getting this power in one system gives us a lot of flexibility. We’re able to perform a wide variety of clinical procedures; see more patients; and accommodate larger and claustrophobic patients, giving them a more comfortable experience.  This system is a tremendous diagnostic benefit to the community,” said Barbara Richardson, Administrative Director, Saint Barnabas Imaging Center.

In addition to the new Ingenia 1.5T Wide Bore MRI, the Saint Barnabas Imaging Center also has an ultra-high-field 3.0T Philips short bore MRI, a 1.0T Philips Open MRI with ambient experience and a 1.5T short bore MRI.  The Imaging Center also provides: Low Dose Computerized Tomography Scans (CT), PET/CT, Diagnostic X-ray, Ultrasound, Dexa Scans (bone density scans), Digital Mammography with Triple Assurance Protocol, Breast MRI, Nuclear Medicine Studies, Vascular Studies, Echocardiogram and EKG.  The Saint Barnabas Imaging Center participates with most major insurances.

To schedule your MRI or any other Imaging procedure, please call 973.322.7888.  If you have any questions or would like further information about the new MRI or any of the Imaging Center’s diagnostic services, please call Barbara Richardson, Administrative Director, Imaging Center at 973.322.7853 or log on to our website at www.saintbarnabas.com and click on the Latest Imaging Technology box.

A Royal Pain

I went to a big wedding over the weekend.  It was in England.

I like to think I was invited, but according to the Royal Guards and the Thames Valley Police I was not.  But more about that later.

You see, not too long ago I received an evite addressed to me from H&M@royalwedbot.co.uk.  Curiously, it was in my spam folder with a warning message. For an evite it was pretty ...
