Downtown New Jersey Honors Stephen Santola with Individuals of Excellence Award

Stephen Santola, vice president and general counsel for Woodmont Properties, a regional real estate company that develops, builds, markets, manages and invests in a diversified range of real estate, including multifamily, was recently recognized by Downtown New Jersey for its “Individuals of Excellence” award.

Each year, Downtown New Jersey recognizes the Garden State’s best downtown projects and programs completed within the last two years as well as individuals who have shown a commitment to advancing downtown projects.

“I’m thrilled to be given this award by Downtown New Jersey, an organization that I have tremendous respect for given their commitment to rebuilding New Jersey’s downtowns,” said Santola. “I look forward to working with the organization as Woodmont Properties continues to do help shape many New Jersey downtowns.”

Santola was presented with the award at Downtown New Jersey Annaul Excellence Awards Reception, held on Dec. 6 at the Heldrich Center in New Brunswick.  As former mayor and councilman in Livington, in addition to his role at Woodmont Properties, Santola has worked on many downtown projects.

“Steve has been an integral part of the downtown revitalization scene for all the years that I have been involved,” said Michael Redpath, President of Downtown New Jersey. “Whether as President of Downtown New Jersey, a committee head, or just someone with New Jersey’s downtowns at heart, he has always been passionate about our need for excellent downtowns, which require excellent leadership to succeed. Steve has been the epitome of that leadership.”

In 2011, Woodmont Properties, 40 Park, the upscale mixed-use development overlooking the Morristown Green, was named a Silver Award winner by Downtown New Jersey at its annual Excellence Awards ceremony.

"Working with Stephen Santola has been a wonderful experience. Steve is someone who always finds a way to make things happen. He is a strong supporter of the Business Community and our Downtown," said Bech Lippman, director of the Livingston Business Improvement District. "Steve so deserves this prestigious award from Downtown New Jersey"

As fans watching the World Cup know too well, bathroom breaks are a serious dilemma, especially for those who don’t have a TV in the loo.  This biological necessity is exasperated by beer, which during World Cup matches also fuels a strong propensity to throw chairs and instigate riots.
