EDISON, NJ — With signs of spring popping up throughout New Jersey, the hot and humid days of summer—and the non-stop running of home and office cooling systems—are just around the corner. Mike Iarrapino, owner of Edison Heating and Cooling, is reminding area residents that spring is the best time of year to have units checked and replaced if necessary.

“Efficiency is so important; air conditioning units should be checked prior to the summer months,” said Iarrapino. "Those that are over 15 years old should be replaced before the scorching temperatures hit. You don't want to be in the position when, on a humid 95-degree day, your system decides to break down.

Although it is more cost-effective to have cooling units replaced during the pre-summer months, Iarrapino encourages home and business owners to act now, stating that supplies may be limited due to the current healthcare crisis.

"Because of COVID, the supply chain is still behind on production with many popular models on national back order and others simply not available," he said. "Having units checked and replaced now is not only cost-effective due to increased prices and reduced availability but will also mean less aggravation in the heat of summer."

For those with fairly new units, Iarrapino said that regular maintenance, which includes cleaning filters and coils along with adequate refrigerant, is essential when it comes to ensuring units last longer and run more efficiently.

“A system that is not running properly will have reduced capacity and use more energy,” he said. “Routine maintenance will, in the end, cost less and prolong the life of your equipment.”

Noting that Edison Heating and Cooling is dedicated to ensuring that all customers get the best possible system at the lowest price, Iarrapino announced that spring promotions are currently available on the company's website along with thousands of dollars in potential state and manufacturer rebates and incentives.

“What sets us apart is our dedication, reliability, integrity and great workmanship," he said. "With us, you aren’t buying an air conditioning or a heating system, you’re buying into a company and its dedicated employees. We stand by our products, our work, and we go out of the way for our customers. The awards and the reviews we have received prove that.”

In addition to providing state-of-the-art service, Edison Heating and Cooling, is committed to ensuring customer and employee safety during the ongoing healthcare crisis.

Over the past year, Iarrapino said the company has stepped up its safety protocols by requiring technicians to wear a mask, gloves and booties upon entering a home or business as well as putting a screening process in place to ensure the customers are symptom-free prior to arrival.

“We are dedicated to providing a service to our customers while ensuring that everyone remains healthy and safe," he said.
